New trustees appointed
Royal Voluntary Service has made six new appointments to its Board of Trustees
Royal Voluntary Service has made six new appointments to its Board of Trustees - Bayo Adelaja, Dr Justin Davis-Smith, Frankie Herbert, Margaret Moore, Matthew Moorut and Richard Williams.
Skilled at activating volunteers, Bayo Adelaja, is founder and CEO of Do it Now Now, an organisation that engages experts across a range of industries to volunteer their time to support black entrepreneurs in the UK and Africa. Prior to setting up Do it Now Now, Bayo was a health and social care researcher at the London School of Economics.
Dr Justin Davis Smith CBE has worked in leadership positions in the voluntary sector for most of his professional life. His past roles include establishing and running the Institute for Volunteering Research and heading up Volunteering England as its chief executive. Most recently, he has been leading the voluntary sector management masters’ programme at Cass Business School and helping to grow the next generation of charity leaders.
An experienced Finance Director, Frankie Herbert has a successful record of leading growth in SME’s and steering change in consumer and retail companies. Currently Interim Finance Director of Costa Coffee, Express, Frankie has also held business leadership roles at Fiorucci and Moet Hennessy. Frankie is an advocate of volunteering and a committed and long term volunteer for WaterAid.
Margaret Moore has been volunteering as a trustee in the charitable sector since retiring from private practice as a commercial and competition lawyer at City law firm Travers Smith LLP, where she was a partner and head of department for over 20 years. She will combine her new role at Royal Voluntary Service with those of Vice Chair of Sue Ryder and trustee of Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby. In addition, she is Vice Chair of the Fundraising Regulator.
Matt Moorut spent five years running all of the digital and marketing operations for Charity Digital (formerly known as Tech Trust). Now supporting Gartner in an advisory role, he brings a wealth of experience in digital implementation to the trustee position.
Richard Williams is a seasoned director with a wealth of experience in the not for profit, charitable, commercial and volunteering sectors. Richard held the post of Director of Enterprise at NCVO for 13 years following an 18 year stint as a Director at the environmental charity BTCV.
All of the new trustees bar Richard Williams joined on 1 May 2020. Richard joined on 20 May 2020.
