What the World Needs Now

Royal Voluntary Service teams star in new TV ad with People’s Postcode Lottery

Last month, we had the pleasure of inviting the team from People’s Postcode Lottery to our Cornhill Centre, to showcase the moves of our International Dance Group and film for People’s Postcode Lottery’s new campaign - What the World Needs Now.

Royal Voluntary Service is one of seven charities to feature in this campaign to thank players of People’s Postcode Lottery for their incredible support and showcase the amazing difference they are making in our communities.

Players of People’s Postcode Lottery have been supporting Royal Voluntary Service since 2015 and have raised over £22million for our work in communities, and so we were excited to show off the amazing work of the Cornhill Centre volunteers in action.

The volunteers and dancers from the International Dance Group and other Cornhill Centre teams became stars for the day, as People’s Postcode Lottery filmed for an exciting new TV advert as part of the campaign.

In the heartwarming ad, familiar faces from the Cornhill Centre can be seen twisting, two-stepping and thanking players of People’s Postcode Lottery, to a beautiful rendition of What the World Needs Now by Ellie Goulding.

The Cornhill Centre is a true cornerstone of the Banbury community, offering a programme of volunteer-run activities and groups to bring people together five days a week. From the International Dance Group, Yoga and Move it or Lose it!, to crafting, chatting and coming together for lunch in the café – there is always something exciting going on.

The Cornhill Centre is just one example of how Royal Voluntary Service and our outstanding volunteers are improving the health, happiness and wellbeing of people in communities across the country, with thanks to support from players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

Players also support the Virtual Village Hall, a free, online activity hub and community that helps people stay physically and mentally active, connected and having fun, and First Time for Everything, a community health and wellbeing programme that gives people opportunities to try something new, to socialise and be active.

Those feeling inspired to respond to the call of What the World Needs Now can volunteer and make a difference in their community.
